Staff took part in a series of red-themed events in support of the fight for every heartbeat, with fundraising taking place at the Society’s Head Office and branches as part of the charity’s Wear It Beat It day. Heart and circulatory disease is responsible for almost 160,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 440 people each day. There are currently 7 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease. Trevor Garside, Leeds Building Society’s Head of Direct Distribution, said: “We got involved because we think the charity does great work.” Sue Green, Fundraising Manager at the BHF, said: “A huge thanks to Leeds Building Society for their red-themed fundraising efforts.”
